Attempt to rob jewelry window ends in fright

A jewelry store window was damaged by a glass cutter during an attempted robbery in the Parkhurst Jewelry storefront. The would be thieves fled before prying loose any items, though fine watches and other articles were on display.

Register for Primaries Wednesday in Erie County

Voters in the city must register on Wednesday to qualify for the spring primaries set for May 19. A large turnout is expected as many unqualified voters seek the chance to participate. Leo Gray son of Mr and Mrs J R Graves serves as purser on the Wandener Maxino a relief ship chartered by the United States government. The vessel is en route from Vera Cruz with Americans and cargo of food and clothing. Graves reports his son will not reach New York this month due to the ship being placed at the government’s disposal. The Corryite ship was at Vera Cruz during last week’s fighting.
