Other unverified notes claim two more American missionaries killed in Shantung and Osborn arrested in Chihli. The American legation notes 28 Americans remain in Southern Shantung amid withdrawal advisories.
Washington April 26 The status of United States marines in Nicaragua remained unchanged after the Senate defeated three amendments to the Navy appropriation bill. The bill passed with 385 million dollars in appropriations and without the rider that would have cut funds for the hunting occupation.
Agnes Adams and Bessie Lang faced a police magistrate in Pittsburgh on a larceny charge from a complaint by F. J. Schrouch of Ol City. Two items worth about $800 vanished from his coat pocket while he was at the Adams home yesterday.
A multi vessel report from Chatham and New York details the sinking of the three masted schooner William Booth after a collision with the Grange of Boston off Chatham four miles out. Crew of about 35 were rescued by Grange. The Overbrooke is reported afire after an explosion some miles northeast, with crew of about 30-50 saved by nearby ships.
Three Arctic explorers Captain George Wilkins Cert Bielson and Umberto Nobile may meet in Spitzbergen as Nobile plans a pole voyage aboard the Italia. Bielson and Wilkins recently flew from Point Barrow to Spitzbergen and are at Green Harbor awaiting Nobile. Weather will determine if Nobile sails Sunday from Stolp to begin the polar mission.
Frank Walls of Liberty was sentenced to pay a fine of 10 and serve thirty days in Exe county jail after failing to obtain a dog license. Wells of Shorts County sued for $6,000 damages in a case tied to the arrest, with defendants Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Tria nel drawing city attention.
News from Greenly Island and Quebec report the German Bremen trio led by Captain Koehl, including Bernt Balchen piloting the relief plane, failed to reach Quebec after leaving Greenly Island. The death of Benny Bennett is confirmed, with messages of condolence sent to Mrs Bennett and Major Fife.
Puerta Cabezas April 26. General Augusto Sandino captured the Lotus mine. Américan Lumber Company employees say no Americans were killed. George B. Marshall, mine assistant manager, was captured. Harry Amphlett, resident manager, confirmed the raid and Marshall's capture. Amphlett doubted violence toward Marshall and said two Americans were at La Tis mine during the raid.
