Fugitive Roberto Arias, husband of Margot Fonteyn, led a 10 man group seen at the coast. authorities accuse him of plotting a revolution against President Ernest de la Guardia and expel his wife. Police found patches bearing number 22 and letters including a note from John Wayne, a friend and ally of Arias. The regime fears a May 22 uprising echoing Castro era clashes as rebels fled to the hills.
Charles H. Brewer of Jeannette was indicted for murder over the fatal beating of his 2 year old stepdaughter Agnes Elizabeth Clemens in their apartment last January. He allegedly struck her with his fist and a stick. she died later in hospital.

The Seneca Nation asks the Supreme Court to overturn lower court rulings blocking Kin ga Dam construction on the upper Allegheny River near Warren, Pa. Edward B. ONeal argues the dam would erase most of the Seneca reservation in Tower New York and leaves them with uninhabitable land, urging alternative funding and control plans under treaty rights since 1704.
Twenty volunteers rushing to a band concert were diverted when a chimney at their chief Eugene Graff's home began smoking. They doused the chimney and Graff urged them to clean their own chimneys after the call.
