LONDON April 23 Bremen Germanys second city apparently was being readied for the kill today by the RAF which hit the great port yesterday and again tonight in what may be a prelude to a major assault Field Marshal Montgomerys land forces. A fleet of about 250 Lancasters bombed dock areas with 12000 pound earthquake bombs just before dusk and Mosquitos switching from nightly Berlin raids followed with a volley of 2000 pound “blockbusters” The Kiel naval base also saw weekend bombing and ports are becoming graveyards for remnants of the German navy. Fire Captain Albert R Phillips 60 veteran of 33 years service drowned in the Allegheny River after leaping from the 30th Street bridge.
