Homeless Boys Endlessly March Halt Here in City
O A Stewart of the Texas Transient Bureau notes a vast, nameless army of migratory youths moving through the region. Hundreds stop overnight at the jail for lodging and panhandling as they drift from bureau to bureau seeking food beds and clothing. The boys form small groups led by a chosen leader and ride trains seeking the next destination. Their aim appears to be continual motion rather than work or settlement, with little schooling and no steady local ties observed.
