Special Officer Charged With Assault Near Camp 44
April 2 Chares Aunery 20 of Werle a Special policeman and sentinel of Camp 44 of the State Police of Erle and Cragg ford counties was jailed on aggravated assault and battery charges. He allegedly beat Murl Byson of Ripley NY with a blackjack at Chick's Tan on Route 2 near North East two and a half miles east. Brown was reportedly assaulted in an unprovoked attack as the men were in the tavern, with Aunery allegedly using the blackjack to overpower him.
