In NinTH Vernon Indiana a 12 year old, Mickey Rine of Butlerville, was killed after mishearing a locomotive whistle as his mother’s car horn. He ran toward the sound and stepped onto a railroad embankment where a Baltimore and Ohio freight train struck him. His brother Ronnie and friend Michael Money witnessed the accident. State police say the boy apparently mistook the whistle for his mother’s call home.
