Robbery on New York Central Train Near Banborne

A band of at least twenty men robbed a New York Central train bound for Chicago near Banborne in Niagara County. They escaped with ten thousand dollars in valuables after forcing the engineer to stop and breaking into cars. Detectives were coordinating nationwide traffic checks as authorities pursued some suspects, while the crew and engineer avoided serious harm.

Corry Man Dead at Pittsburg in Apparent Accident

Frank Ransom, 42, formerly of Corry and son of Col H N Rangon, died in Pittsburgh after a fall at the Babinger Hotel. He suffered a fractured skull and died at Homeopathic Hospital. Body to be shipped home for burial amid widespread mourning.

Reservoir Break Drowns Eight in Arizona Valley

Terrific roar from the Lyman reservoir near Mhoonix Arizona caused a massive wall of water to sweep the valley. St John a town 12 miles away was inundated with heavy property damage. Preliminary reports indicate at least eight people drowned as the break came with no warning.

Governor Tener seeks to change Public Service Commission

Harrisburg April 11 Governor Tener sent a message to the Senate asking that the names of the Public Service Commission members appointed by him be returned. The request, referred to the Senate Executive Appointments Committee, signals potential removals from the nine members named by Tener. None had been confirmed by the Senate, as the list was held up until this session.

Runaway Team Causes Injuries Near Spring Creek

A heavy draft team owned by John Pareman bolted when driven by his daughter near Spring Creek yesterday afternoon. She fell from the wagon but clung to the reins while the horses bolted, receiving multiple cuts and injuries before the animals were finally stopped. The wagon was broken and the incident ended without further harm.

Board considers suspension over schoolyard fight

The Board of Education met last evening with members Amidon Barlow Heartein Layeland Whittleway and Preadent Auer present. A communication from Superintendent Wien notified Walter Besbe's suspension until the end of the school year due to a fight with George Stranhigan on the high school grounds. The witnesses included other students and parents. The board heard the hearing and found Besbe likely the aggressor. The auditorium committee referred Miss Althea Fuller’s May 17th use request. An amended reading of the primary Graves report was adopted and a secretary’s monthly report was accepted. Mr Whittlesey elected Mla Orn Masbrovok as office assistant to the superintendent for the balance of the term at 25 dollars per month. Funds were shifted to the supply fund and the meeting adjourned.
