Sinking steamer Monarch runs aground near Selby Island
The excursion steamer Monarch took on water and ran ashore in a foggy morning off Selby Island. All sixty five passengers and crew, many from Sacramento and San Francisco, were rescued before the vessel sank in shallow water.
