Superior Court reverses action against 1927 motor law violators

The Pennsylvania Superior Court ruled that pre existing 1927 traffic offenses can be prosecuted under the old code despite the 1925 motor code and its lack of a saving clause. The decision centers on Frank McNamara of Philadelphia whose case was overturned, and establishes that prosecutions initiated under those old provisions may proceed.

Senate pushes farm relief bill amid White House objections

Washington April 11 The Senate advanced its plan for early enactment of the McNary farm relief bill despite a White House note saying the measure is not acceptable. Southern Democrats delayed action as Caraway Ark opposed amendments on appointing commodity advisory council members and funding changes. The amendments include increasing the revolving fund from 250000000 to 100000000 and will be resubmitted with expected adoption later today.

Five Die in French Railroad Wreck Near Paris

A collision of two passenger trains near Génicourt Nord left at least five dead and about twenty injured. Early reports suggested the toll could rise to ten as authorities and rescuers worked the wreckage half a mile from the station. R. G. Kramer of Brie and friends visited Paris last evening.

Cold wave saves orchards from heavy damage

Northwestern Pennsylvania orchardists say a late March cold spell prevented heavy fruit tree damage by delaying buds after a period of rapid early growth. Harrisburg report says William R. Kann, assistant yardmaster at Rutherford yards of the Heading railroad near Harrisburg, was instantly killed today when struck by a shifting freight train.

Byrd Names Part Of Antarctic Expedition Crew

New York April 11 Commander Richard Byrd has named 55 crew members for his aerial South Pole expedition. Forty will be old Byrd shipmates, including Floyd Bennett as second in command and chief pilot. The roster lists experts such as Prof L L Gould, Dr Francis Coman, Bernt Raman, and Wm Haynes, with plans to equip a frozen-tea cooking plan.

Child dies after being struck by car in Pare area

Three year old Marjoria Wright, daughter of Mr and Mrs John Wright of Pare Pei, was killed yesterday when struck by a car driven by Adbert Toty. The accident occurred near Pare Pei with the child reportedly stepping into the roadway. Local authorities are investigating the fatal incident.

Governor to Visit This City Next Week

Lieut Col C Seymour Bullock defended the D A R speakers blacklist before the Harrisburg chapter, listing pacifist and reform groups he attacked for keeping pacifism alive. Body of missing naval officer found on beach

Norfolk April 11 The body of Commander Theodore G. Fil Lyon executive officer of the U S Lexington lost in a night action from Norfolk to Annapolis weeks ago was found on the beach at Wiloughby near Ocean View. Identification came from his uniform and a message from Mrs WyIlson about their daughter ill. Rev and Mrs J A Martin of Westfield are in the city with their hospitalized child at Corry hospital.

Action on road project to be taken tonight

Tonight's Corry Motor Club meeting will consider sending a delegation to interview the Board of County Commissioners about improving the Spartansburg road. The Rotary Club yesterday backed forming a committee to meet Erie officials for data, and Kiwanis may join Thursday.
