Three children of Mr and Mrs Clyde Oyster Jr Sara 2 and John perished in a Sunbury Pennsylvania fire that destroyed their frame house. The parents were away at work and a neighbor visit left the interior engulfed. Neighbors and WPA workers battled flames but could not reach the children before the home collapsed.
Geneva dispatch reports Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden told the League of Nations committee that Britain will demand sanctions under Article 16 for any league member that invades another country. France welcomed the stance while Paris warns of concrete action against Germany for strengthening the Rhineland amid Locarno treaty concerns.

Geneva April 9 Italy has shipped 200 tons of poison gas to Ethiopia via the Suez Canal. British foreign secretary Anthony Eden urged that both belligerents pledge not to use gas in the future. The league council committee received a jurist report indicating it lacks authority to prevent Italy from using the gas.
Officials announced that construction will start within sixty days for the Beaverdam rural electrification project where about 600 farmers have signed agreements and another 100 are expected to join. O H Smith and C L Moyer addressed about 150 attendees at Beaverdam M B Church noting the plan’s rapid progress and capacity needs.

What the Board did tentatively approved a 21k mill increase in property taxes and a 4 increase in per cup assessments. They slashed $13,000 from operating costs for 19637. Four subjects home economics health electricity and mechanical trading and the special class were dropped. Resignations of nine teachers were accepted. A percentage cut was made for Mounts vertain teachers earning above the minimum for their positions.
Corry police and Warren county authorities hunt for Walden Bonelson, a farmer living two miles east of Columb, on cruelty to animals charges. About thirty cattle and calves were found nearly starved. they were penned and later moved to pasture with a watcher. Authorities traced him to Corny visiting beer joints. search efforts continued yesterday without success.
Railroad detectives charged Mrs L W Vann with hiring two Black people to wreck a train to fatally injure her 70 year old husband, an engineer, to marry another man and gain his insurance as dowry. The plan failed when the workers did not understand train wheel flanges on rails, according to authorities.
