Army reports seven killed in bomber crash off Georgia coast
Army Air base at Columbia S C released the names of seven men killed when a medium bomber crashed off Sapelo Island during a training flight from Jacksonville Fla. The victims include Sgt John S Privelen 22 son of Sidney Welch of Oconomowoc Wis who had just married Feb 12. His wife accompanied him to Columbia where they resided. Mrs Welch called her father Thursday morning and said her husband’s plane had crashed and that four were killed and her husband was missing. A telegram said her son in law was killed. The body of Sergt Welch was to be taken to Oconomowoc for funeral services and interment. Welch was a native of the Wisconsin city according to Cutting.
