Refinery Explosion Kills One in Doraville Ga
An explosion at a northeast Atlanta suburb refinery tank farm in Doraville killed one man and injured at least four others. About 300 families were evacuated as flames spread to a nearby housing area. Kenneth Womack, a refinery foreman, said three of seven tanks burned and the tanks contained gasoline kerosene and diesel oil. The dead man was identified as Eugene Smith, about 30, a loading clerk. Four others were hospitalized with two in critical condition. The blast occurred during tanker loading and authorities feared more explosions as fire crews battled the blaze.
