Promise in State School Aid Boost Upheld by Union Critics

Pennsylvania State Education Association leaders and teacher groups urged support for Hare-Lee and Harebee bills to raise minimum per pupil subsidies and teacher salaries. Proposals would set $800 minimum per pupil unit, $1,400 annual elementary salaries, and national scale for others. Hare-Lee seeks $1,500 for all teachers with college education.
