Big blaze at St Marys causes heavy losses
Fire on April 5 on the south side of Erle Ayers and North Street in Marys destroys the Wilhelm Block and surrounding properties. Losses estimated from 100000 to 125000 with firms including John Gross Meyer and Schumm RF. Smith and Wilhelm affected. several injuries reported to building occupants and Rogan Estate. Origin of the fire unknown, suspected to have started on the second floor of the Wilhelm Block housing the 40 and 8 club.
