Steel pact promises longer vacations and new benefits
Negotiators for two major steel companies and the Steelworkers Union in Pittsburgh reached a two year contract settlement praised by President Kennedy as a major breakthrough. The accord adds a special vacation bonus and improved pension, insurance, and grievance procedures while keeping immediate pay unchanged. Vacations rise to eight weeks after 18 years seniority, with changes not to occur until 1985. The deal can be reopened after August 1, 1963 for pay and related matters. A revival service note follows about Rev. Dale Linebaugh at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church beginning tomorrow.
