Fail To Halt UC Job Tax Continued ram rage
Harry Smiley borough secretary told The Journal the claim is untrue and the ordinance was reenacted after a prior signing lapse. He said there are no exemptions and the tax is legal as it mirrors Allentown's ordinance. Attorney William Peiffer said wage earners under 800 dollars may appeal the payment, but this is not an exemption. Judge Rossiter upheld the tax last year, and a Citizens Committee led by Edward Kohmanski and others sought an injunction.

New Rabies Vaccine Aims to Replace Saline Injections
In Philadelphia and Davis, scientists report progress on a new rabies vaccine that could end the Pasteur treatment. Dr. Hil Koprowski of Wistar Institute notes the current method requires daily injections, raises fear, and can cause allergic or severe reactions, paralysis, or death in rare cases. About two U.S. deaths yearly result from rabies.
