Narrow Escape From Wreck Near Oil City
Police investigate a near derailment of train No. 913 near Oil City early Saturday. A suspected oxyacetylene tank placed on the tracks near Kramer Wagon Works prompted delays and a possible wreck attempt, with authorities leaning toward theft rather than accident. The tank rolled 200 feet after being struck, nearly empty, and had been left near the tracks Friday after work. Officials say a deliberate wreck attempt is plausible but unconfirmed.
