U S Ships Rush to Mexico as Navy Reinforces Waters

Washington April 1 The Navy ordered the Olympia to sail at once from Key West toward Mexico to bolster the U S naval squadron in those waters. Officials offered few details but indicated preparations follow reports of unrest and a large gold shipment tied to the outbreak. Admiral Caperton will command a larger force to meet any developing situation.

Veteran Erie R. R. Man Killed in Greenville Yard Accident

David Garrison, veteran Erie Railroad conductor, died instantly in Greenville when the footboard on the engine rider jumped the track and crushed him against a switch. The body was taken to Taylor's Undertaking Rooms in Meadville. he was the eldest freight conductor and highly respected. His son Roy Garrison, a typewriter operator, was alerted as the Erie train No. 5 passed Meadville.

Submarine Supply Ship Seized and Bombings Reported

Austrian and Turkish war reports describe attacks in Europe with bombs on a royal palace site causing minor civilian injuries. A German submarine engagement slows the Mutoh cargo steamer Van Nansen, which carried fuel oil for submarines. most of its Germans crew and cargo details are listed with unclear clearance. The Russian fleet bombarded Bosphorus forts and coastal ports before withdrawing north, while the steamer Emma sank with two drowned and seventeen missing crew members.

Repeal of Storage Bill Probable This Morning

D L Bracken returned from Marrisburg where he attended a hearing before the House Committee on the repeal of the Cold Storage Act. Large delegations from Philadelphia and Pittsburg attended. The committee will report to the House and repeal is expected to pass in the House, matching Senate favor.

Rousing meeting forms new Corry chamber effort

A large turnout gathered at the Municipal Club for the Corry chamber of commerce’s organizing meeting. Temporary leaders urged unity, committees were named for organization nominations by laws get-together rally and fundraiser with local officials and business figures pledging support. Wayne Twp Supervisors Meet on Local Improvements

The Wayne township supervisors meet next Saturday afternoon to hear plans on Hare Crooke Four from the city line to the New York State line and trolley route expansions from Columbus to Mayville. C. P. Northrop of the trolley company will be present. Residents and chamber of commerce members may attend to voice opinions on the projects and their impact on Curry.

Prizes Awarded at High School for Civic Essay Contest

This morning at the High School the two $2.50 prizes were awarded for the essays on civic topics. Franklin Babbitt and Juliet Cottrel captured the top awards, while Justin Butters and Verna Hughes from Miss Ranney room at Hatch School received $1.00 prizes each.
