At Tuesday’s meeting Coronado Council authorized City Manager Howard Ffiller to hire Sam Hamill to draw up plans for the new Civic Center including City Hall and Police Station. Contract pending council approval before work begins.
Glenn J. Greene replaces Vincent T. Burns as Associate Manager of the Hotel del Coronado. Burns departs for five years to head the Huntington Hotel in Pasadena. Greene, former Tahoe Tavern manager, also ran Malibu Club in Vancouver and held Royce Convention Manager roles for several major hotels.
The Girls' League of Coronado High School plans its annual Cake Sale at Shell Corner starting 9 30 a m on Saturday. Jane Warner chairs the sale Barbara Terigian handles publicity. Proceeds support the league scholarship fund with pastries donated by Coronado High School girls.

Coronado's VFW formed Coronado Colts reveal starting lineup for their first season game against the San Diego Bulldogs at Cutler Field on Armistice Day. Proceeds benefit Coronado Hospital with 36 players in green and white. Tickets sold by VFW members or local shops at 1.00 adults, 60 cents students, 30 cents grammar school.
General Mark Clark, commanding Sixth Army and WWI hero, arrives at noon tomorrow to speak at a Chamber of Commerce luncheon in the Rose Room at the Hotel Grant. The Jr High School Barn Dance Committee hosts an Old Fashioned and Square Dance Night this Saturday from 7:30 to 10. Coronado residents and 7th grade and older may attend, with 5th and 6th graders allowed if accompanied. Admission and refreshments are free. attendees should participate actively.

Col Ira Clifton Copley longtime Colorado resident and head of Copley Press died after a five day illness in Aurora Illinois He had just turned 83 and died at Copley Memorial Hospital after returning from visits to San Diego and Los Angeles.
