Monty Lewis announces the Arts School will move Malcolm Farmer's lecture to Thursday March 25 at 2 p.m. The talk titled Art School Lecture and Films Open to Public Culture of Man will be held at the Orange Avenue and Sixth Street Studio.
After the lecture, two French films Perles du Djerid and L Amiante will be shown exploring life in Tunisia and asbestos manufacture. An American feature The Shortest Way Home will also screen. All films and the lecture are free and open to the public.
The American Legion Auxiliary Coronado Unit No. 450 will hold its next meeting tomorrow evening at the Library Park Clubhouse.
Mayor Abel reports the plan to amend the 1923 tidelands grant in Coronado was rejected by the Joint Budget Committee over fears of state housing projects. Assemblyman Cramer sponsored AB 39 at the city council’s request. The city will seek Attorney General guidance and prepare a new Sacramento presentation for a 1949 hearing, with further council action anticipated.
The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars seeks national endorsement for its $2000 high school essay contest with Fame prizes and multiple local and state awards. Open to junior and senior high students nationwide including Alaska and Hawaii, rules limit entrants to those in full-time secondary programs. essays judged for literary merit and inspiration. Local and state deadlines span to April 1 1948 and May 15 1948 with national results at the 1948 encampment.
