Wake Island Defender James P. S. Devereux Honored

James P. S. Devereux, famed for 16 days defending Wake Island against overwhelming Japanese forces, later served 25 years in the Marine Corps rising to Brigadier General. He enlisted in 1923 and earned the Navy Cross along with the Nicaraguan Campaign, Yangtze Service, and Expeditionary medals.
