Drawings Hold June Primary Ballot Listings
In San Diego the County Registrar of Voters drew the order for the June primary. Dorothea McCall and Mayor Archibald Abel will appear seventh and eighth on the Republican County Central Committee ballot from ten candidates in the Second Supervisorial District. Mrs McCall is the district’s only woman candidate. It is the first time ten candidates are listed for the five seats.

Sorority Conference Draws 100 Members from Seven Chapters
Pi Lambda Theta held its biennial recital conference at the Hotel del Coronado attracting over 100 members from seven southern California chapters. Dr May V Seagoe of Los Angeles led national president and speakers included Dr Melvin Barnes and J Graham Sullivan of San Diego City Schools and Dr Gilbert Brighouse of Occidental College. Mrs Ella Arciniega of San Diego presided at sessions.

Mrs. Melville Brown will describe European conditions seen during July to September while in England and on the Continent. She publicized the Paris Congress and the Goodwill Tour of 30 days with meetings in many nations. Rotary members are asked to bring used clothing for Europe.

La Jolla Orchid Show Draws Coronadans
Fully two score of Coronado flower lovers attended the La Jolla Orchid Show on Saturday and Sunday to view hundreds of orchid varieties. A six white bloom pot drew admiration and corsages were intricate. A budget greenhouse of prefabricated material attracted interest. Notables present included Mrs. Davis DeTreville and Mrs. Irving Snyder. Exhibits from London and Brussels arrived in 48 hours, though San Diego County displays still led.

20 30 Club Tops Coronado Teachers In Charity Bowling
In a charity event sponsored by the 20 30 Club, Coronado 20 30 squad and school faculty opened the evening with a tight basketball matchup. Bud Ingle led the 20 30 players while Keith Broaders starred for the teachers. In the second game the Tijuana 20 30 defeated Oscar’s Drive In 38 to 29 with Arnoldo Searcy and Fidel Gutierrez each scoring eight for the club.

Journalism Awards For San Diego County High School Students
San Diego county high school journalism students will attend San Diego State College on May 12 for the Fourth Annual High School Journalism competition. Grant Nielsen says the event aims to encourage journalism study and prepare students for careers with panel discussions and a banquet on the State College campus. Local professionals will judge the events with Professor David Hellyer coordinating the program.

All Navy Olympic Boxing Matches Set for May in San Diego
