On Friday March 25 at 1 15 p m high school scholars with the Woman's Improvement club and the Tuesday Afternoon Music club plan to plant an oak tree at the high school grounds to honor Miss Helen Platt. The public is invited to attend.

Brown and Hayes Plead Not Guilty in $50 Theft Case

Ed Brown and Perry Hayes pleaded not guilty in Judge Densmore's court to a charge of stealing $50 from Thomas Hoyt after drinking together. The arraignment confirmed their true names and a trial date was set for April 18 with a 24 juror panel drawn by the sheriff. Hoyt, timekeeper for Garnsey and Pitzer, says the money and a gold watch disappeared from his pocket and he was left at the roadside.

San Bernardino Centennial Celebration Planned in 1910

On May 20 1910 San Bernardino marks its centennial founded by Franciscan Padre Dumetz and followers. Citizens plan a large reenactment on the original site under the Arrowhead emblem and a cross will be erected as the city enters its second century.

College Men to Hold Interes ting Meetings in Corona Churches

Six USC students plan a week of religious meetings in Corona churches during Easter vacation. The series opens Sunday at 3 PM in the Baptist church with daily evening sessions, culminating in a union service April 3 at the Methodist church with Baptist Christian and Congregational participation. The group is noted for its singing and outreach to young people in southern California.

Go to trial ruling sustains Gooch case on city fumigation control

Judge Densmore sustains the Riverside County ruling that county fumigation ordinances cannot operate within city limits. The decision requires cities to enact similar ordinances and grants a new trial for J. B. Gooch of Corona, with District Attorney Evans for the county and George R. Freeman for the defendant.

Rain began just before 9 this morning and fell gently all night across the southern state. Corona reported .39 of an inch soaking into parched ground, with broad relief to hay and grain crops. minor damage noted but outweighed by expected agricultural benefits for ranchers and workers.

Great Drivers to Rage April 8 1017 at Los Angeles Motordrome

Three top drivers George Robertson Ralph De Palma and Barney Oldfield will race on the Los Angeles Motordrome’s 200 horsepower cars in an inaugural meet from April 8 to 17. The plank circle track may reach speeds over 120 mph with spectators able to see every moment from grandstands. Excursion rates will be offered by railroads for the event drawing national attention from manufacturers and racing fans alike.
