State Receipts Rise 38.3 Percent in Eight Months
FRANKFORT Ky AP receipts for the states general fund in the first eight months of the fiscal year show a 38.3 percent rise from the same period last year. Through February receipts totaled 312896171 with road fund up 23.5 percent to 211133837 and non tax grants up 23.8 percent to 112536500. Sales tax remains 75 percent above last year at 165074531 and property tax receipts grew 9.7 percent to 23018144.

Seven Deaths Push State Toll To 186
State Police report Obel Anderson Jr. of Franklin died in a crash west of Franklin raising Kentucky’s 1969 highway toll to 186. He was a passenger in a car thatran off the road and struck a tree. Six others died Friday in multiple fatality crashes including three Ft. Knox soldiers Richard A. Yager Jamie L. Hamilton and Terrence G. Merrill. A second pair, Elmer A. Field and his wife Dorothy, died when their car veered into a truck. Through March 22 last year 175 had died in Kentucky crashes.
