Erie Whitlatch a married man was arrested at Baby Ruth City twenty miles from Mena on murder charges in the shooting of Florence Wiley. The crime occurred while Wiley and his two sons worked in a field and Florence washed at a spring. Whitlatch allegedly forced her into a house and shot her. Florence survived for about an hour before naming Whitlatch. A prior charge for attempted elopement with the girl had been dismissed days earlier.

The largest peach orchard under one management is located in Oregon county Missouri and Lawrence county Arkansas. J. G. Mc Nair of St Louis is manager. A Warren special reports a group of ladies raided a suspected contraband liquor depository. They demolished a quantity of whisky jugs and beer bottles, ending a stock said to be linked to the "Beer Club." The action followed ongoing concerns about male youth visits and alleged town inaction.

A well developed female child was discovered in underbrush by local children at play near Hot Springs. Head wounds suggest the death was to conceal a crime. A Little Rock couple living nearby are suspected and left the cottage days before the discovery.
Mrs. J. P. Preston near Texarkana was thrown from her buggy and likely fatally hurt while driving to town. Henrietta Mayer pleaded guilty in Fort Smith to concealing her newborn and drew one day in prison. James Henry Jarvis near Fayetteville shot his wife on April 14 and attempted suicide. he remains jailed. Ike Jones, colored, jailed in Pine Bluff for killing John Wilson, four years past. Maj. J. H. Paschal Pulaski assessor died on the 11th at 62 after 55 years in the state.
The Presbyterian Church general assembly will convene in Little Rock on May 16. Local weather reports note a heavy snow storm in Bentonville and vicinity on the 17th followed by sleet, with fruit men saying the crop suffered little.
The St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway offers return tickets at one third fare on the certificate plan for the Arkansas State Holiness Association in Little Rock from April 24 to May 15 with a May 18 return limit. The Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star of Arkansas Texarkana, Ark. travels June 25 with a certificate limit of June 28.
