W H Conley a former saloon keeper and alleged director of the Gem Social Club on Central Avenue was arrested on an indictment by the last Grand Jury. He is charged with selling intoxicants without a license and selling liquor on the seventh of last month to Michiel Winn Henry Gebert and others. Sheriff Miller made the arrest. Conley posted a $100 cash bond for the next circuit court term. The case draws temperance groups’ interest.
Statewide quail season opens and hunters are urged to follow the laws. A resident license is required to hunt quail and imported birds are prohibited. Game preserve hunting is forbidden and deputies will enforce licenses with arrests for violations.
