Pioneer Citizen Matthew Harlan Dies at 97 in Fayette County
Matthew Harlan, possibly the county’s oldest resident, died Sunday at his son’s home in Connersville township. Born March 1 1803, he came to Fayette County in 1814 from North Carolina and lived a long Baptist life. He leaves two children Elder Samuel Harlan and Wim Harlan plus nephews and grandchildren. Funeral was Tuesday at Village Creek church with Rev. Archie Brown presiding.
