Tragic Shooting Near Vevay Involving Mrs Banta Family
Mrs James D Banta of six miles from Vevay Indiana was shot Sunday at 9 am by Fred Gilbert about 20. Gilbert, courting the daughter, was arrested and jailed in Madison. He confessed claiming only to frighten the family. Seventy seven shots struck Mrs Banta and she may not recover. Gilbert to be taken to Vevay for trial. James Banta husband is Switzerland County sheriff and brother of Tra Banta. Citizens of the city read the notice with sadness.

Mrs Train Caldwell Dies After Illness in City
Mrs Train Caldwell died suddenly Tuesday at 1 18 AM from asthma and heart trouble. Born in Henry County Kentucky in 1915 she moved from Kentucky after marriage to Cincinnati then to the city where she lived until death. Funeral was at her home Wednesday at 2 PM conducted by Rev George Duraie with interment in City Cemetery. Nieces Miss Venrietta Gregg and Miss Sarah Gregg of Lexington Kentucky and Mrs Hughes of Point Pleasant Virginia attended.
