President Taft addressed a large crowd who gathered to hear important announcements. Reporters noted the size of the turnout and the general mood as officials outlined upcoming policies and national issues.
Judge William H. Taft accepted the Republican nomination in Cincinnati on a flag drenched porch of his brother Charles P. Taft home. The ceremony drew officials from Chicago countries and crowds from across the city as Taft outlined policies praising Roosevelt and detailing plans for interstate commerce reform and labor rights.
John Murray assigns the Edwards and Murray drug business in the Andre building to Jno. Payne as assignee. Liabilities are around 2200 dollars with assets exceeding 3000. Murray plans to stay in town until September then depart south for good.
John H. Manlove of Fairview Township Fayette County Indiana died in Cambridge City July 22 1908 at age 56 after a long illness paralysis was the immediate cause. He married America J Ayres September 3 1872 and leaves two children Gilbert B. Manlove and Pearl McCrory, with a daughter Sylvia Higley deceased. Funeral at two p m Saturday the 25th at Fairview Union Cemetery conducted by Rev J C Burkhardt. He served as Fairview township trustee for six years and was respected by many in the community. He had moved to Cambridge City two years ago due to poor health.
Ralph Lantz of Milton Indiana is jailed in Richmond awaiting a sanity examination. He was active in secret orders and known for smooth talk and polite demeanor. He allegedly targeted lodge members for money and conducted numerous confrontations in Milton and Richmond before arrest.
