In Muncie on April 19 the Indiana Knights Templar conclave closed with 200 couples at a banquet. New officers include Grand Commander L W Newby Knightstown and Grand Treasurer Joseph W. Smith Indianapolis. One new commandery formed at Newcastle and membership increased by 210.

A general shooting scrape and riot occurred on Jas Rutherford’s farm two miles northeast of Scottsburg Indiana. Dick Morgan returned to the house angry after Rutherford moved Mrs Sullivan and her son in as housekeeper. Morgan fired at all visible persons, wounding George Waters and others with bullet holes and then began wrecking the house with an ax as City Marshal Walker and Sheriff Everitt attempted to intervene amid storm and darkness.

Rancher Tortured and Robbed by Bandits in Amish Home

In Kendallsville Indiana on a Saturday night three men entered the home of John Andige an Amish farmer. They tortured him burning ears nose and fingers with lighted matches to force surrender of six thousand dollars. A year old daughter was dragged by her hair when resisting. The mother offered the money and led them to the cellar where cash was taken.
