Walden Pond theft case involves five youths
Five Walden youths Irving Banford 16, Sturgis 16, Nason 15, and Thomas Mitchell 15 were arrested by Police Patrol for larceny of about 500 dollars in jewelry and other items from autos at Walden Pond Reservation during August. They faced District Court Wednesday and were placed on probation for a year with order to avoid Walden movies for rest of 1928 and all of 1929.

Last Rites for Mrs Clark in Sudbury
Mrs Lizzie Packard Clark wife of Rev J H Clark retired Methodist pastor was honored by mourners from Sudbury and beyond at a church service. Rev Dr Henry H Crane led the rites with Rev John Ivey assisting as a long procession of friends from Sudbury Grange Woman's Club and Legion Auxiliary attended. Burial followed in Mount Pleasant cemetery. She died after a period of delicate health leaving a husband two daughters Nellie J Staples and Mrs Clarence H Staples and son Vincent C Clark.

Governor hosts Civil War regiment survivors at reunion
Gov Fuller welcomed surviving members of the 26th Regiment at their annual reunion in Boston. Attendees included Benjamin Ford, 88, Brockton. Aar Fletcher, 87, South Acton. L Poole, 84, Boston. and Calvin Greenwood, 85, Nashua. Ford and Fletcher sat front, Poole and Greenwood rear, with the Governor between them. Mr and Mrs Walter F Stevenson of 198 Main Street Webster observe their 50th wedding anniversary. They married September 26 1878 in Holden. He worked for C MM and Railway then at Assabet Mill. she is Esther Lee. They have a son Walter Stevenson in Providence and daughter Mrs Patrick Tighe of Hudson, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The couple, aged about 72 and 70, are in good health and celebrated quietly at home as neighbors sent congratulations and fruit and flowers.

Veteran Charles C. Duren Dies at 82 in West Concord
Charles C. Duren, Civil War veteran and long time West Concord resident, died at his son Irving Duren's home at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday at age 82. Born August 21, 1864 in Groton, he served as a bugler in Company H, 59th Massachusetts. Funeral services are set for Thursday at 2 p.m. with full military honors and interment in Groton. He leaves wife Marcella and two sons Warren of California and Irving of Concord.
