Concord Lt. Col. Norman C. Spencer of Lowell Road is placed on the inactive list temporarily and resumes practice at 39 Main Street until called to active duty.
Concords Mr and Mrs James Connhell of Bristol announce the birth of a daughter born September 11 at Truesdale Hospital Fall River.
D A R delegates from Concord Bedford and surrounding towns were elected for the fall conference at Swampscott October 1 and 2. Delegates include Mrs Allan Brooks Harvard regent Old Concord chapter and Mrs George R Blinn along with Miss Clara L Cutler of Bedford and Mrs Wallace B Conant of Concord. The Enterprise regrets an error in last week’s issue stating Concord had a fine military company on duty with the A.A.F. The correction reads the Concord Company is proud to be represented in the A.E.F. not the A.A.F.
Miss Ethel Hansen of 459 Main Street West Concord has been admitted to the fall entering class of the Waltham Hospital School of Nursing. She is among 20 girls starting a three year program after graduating from Concord High School.
Maynard Garden Club names new officers with Mrs. Frank Sanderson as president elect. She will chair first meeting October 7 at a joint session with Acton Garden Club. Other officers include Mrs. Howard Case and Mrs. George Thompson as vice presidents, Mrs. Hans Erikson treasurer, and several secretaries and committee chairs.

The funeral of John J. Grimes a 62 year old retired painter who died September 15 at 52 Bedford street Concord was followed by a high mass of requiem at St Bernard s church at 9 o clock conducted by Rev Walter A Quinlan. Interment was at St Bernard s cemetery Grimes born in Lincoln had lived most of his life in Concord He leaves a sister Miss Mary A Grimes who resided with him.
A group of West Concord youngsters collected scrap metal from neighboring houses, piling bed springs stoves refrigerators and old iron along with tin cans. Named collectors include Porter Adams Jackie Condon Edward Ahern Sonny Walsh David Berger Lee Perger Ann Condon Marie Landini Jane Adams Theresa Thayer Joan Fitzpatrick and Patricia Ahern.
Private funeral services were held Sunday for John Endicott McMillan of Spencer Brook road Concord who died Friday at the Massachusetts General Hospital Boston. Rev. Robert M. Hatch of Arlington officiated. McMillan, born June 8 1907 in Boston, lived in Concord ten years and previously lived in Randolph NH. He is survived by his widow Caroline Cutter four children Caroline Eilen Andrew Edith his mother Mrs Edith Endicott a brother Andrew and a sister Mrs William Breyton. He retired because of illness.
The Novena to the Little Flower Teresa will be held at St Bernard's Church from Friday Sept 25 to Saturday Oct 3. Very Rev Jeromé O'Grady C P from Jamaica Long Island NY will be guest preacher. Daily masses at 6:30 and 7:30 with 7:45 evening devotion and benediction. Rev Walter A Quinlan pastor and Rev George F Mulcahy curate will assist.
Concord Lodge of Elks held an afternoon and evening outing at Musketaquid Sportsmen's Club in West Concord. William J. Parker chaired the affair as townsfolk played baseball and horseshoes. Supper was served under Frederick Nolan, Jack Hilliard, and B LaForresta Robbins, followed by motion pictures by Joseph Dee.

Charles Liebman on a short furlough from his RAF duties at Clewiston Training Field in Filor 4. He trains Irish youths for service in the RAF in England, a rank-equivalent role to a U S Army first lieutenant.
At Sunday service in Trinitarian Congregational Church Rev. Wilfred Herrick Bunker read his resignation. He plans to leave Concord by November 1 for a Colorado pulpit, citing his wife’s illness and her move to Arizona with their children.
The Concord high school football squad will unveil its 1942 team next Saturday at Emerson playground. Coach Bernie Megin leads the minions against North Andover’s Prichard high. kickoff is 2:30 PM. Co captains Charley Dee and Richie O Neil are assured starters.
Bedford report says a car carrying soldiers struck a tree and electric pole on Hartwell road. Sergeant Charles Duncan, 22, of New York City, was killed after being thrown 35 feet and about the wall. Several others, including Sergeant John C. West, Private Stephen Penaksis, Sergeant M. H. Winifree, and Corporal Irving Sipperly, were injured and taken to the Veterans Hospital.

Thomas Moher of Andover, tile inspector at the Assabet Mills, married Miss Mary Fitzgerald of Andover at a Benediction service at St Lawrence's church. The Rev F James Kelly of Dallas officiated, with William Chatneuf as best man and Ire te Fitzgerald as bridesmaid. A reception followed at the Andover Country Club.
Members of Demars Post A L have elected officers for the 1942 43 season. William V Hansen was chosen commander and the slate includes other officers awaiting official announcements.
Concord High School opened September 9 under Principal J. Clifford Geer with 442 students on opening day and eleven more registered, the largest since 1938. Several faculty changes occurred including Taunt on music supervision and Ward as science teacher. the first assembly featured Cedric Foster and Samuel Kent urging national unity and scrap card drives.
L. H. Lindsay of Loches Road is named chairman for Concord in the 1943 campaign of the Greater Boston United War Fund to be held next January in 49 metropolitan cities. The drive benefits the Greater Boston Community Fund USO and Soldiers and Sailors Committee, with Lindsay noting support at home sustains morale for armed forces.
Concord ARC chapter aims to supply 400 kit bags for soldiers sent overseas. Each bag costs about 1.00 wholesale and will include soap writing paper cards cigarette buttons and comfort items. Mrs. Charles B Johnson chairs the committee and donations to the Concord Chapter American Red Cross are welcome.
Starting October 6 the Red Cross Production Rooms in the old high school on Stow Street will be open two days a week Tuesdays to Fridays from 9 to 4 to recruit workers for stitching sewing and knitting. The West Concord branch urges all able residents to attend.

The service for Ralph Adams Cram 78 famed Gothic architect was held at St. John the Evangelist Church Boston with many associates present. He died Tuesday at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital after a two week illness and is buried on his Sudbury estate Whitehall near St Elizabeth's chapel. He designed Cathedral of St John the Divine West Point buildings and Princeton and earned numerous honors and author volumes. He was born 1863 in New Hampshire and later joined Anglo Catholicism, practiced architecture from 1889 onward and left a legacy of medievalist ideals. He is survived by two daughters and wife Bertha Carrington of Virginia.
The Concord Board of registrars announces registration sessions for new voters at Harvey Wheeler School October 5 from 7 to 9 pm Town House October 7 7 to 9 pm and October 14 12 noon to 10 pm Any voter from either precinct may register at any session these are the final dates before the November election.
The Concord Senior Mother’s Club held its fall opening with about 40 members at the parish house of the Trinitarian Congregational church. Mrs Maxwell B. The Depot team, led by manager Bill Lahiff, clinched the Concord softball title by defeating the Married Men’s team in the final game of the best three out of five series. Mrs. William Tufts Candy Hill visits her daughter Mrs. Johnn Dibbell of Cleveland, Ohio.
Middlesex starts open ball practice with coach Foster greeting about 25 players. The 1913 season aims to rebuild most of last year’s graduating squad. The opening game is October 3 at Concord against Boston, while transportation issues loom for the schedule.
Sudbury announces Alfred Gardner has been promoted to lieutenant in the Sudbury Unit of the Massachusetts State Guard. He succeeds Reuben Dunsford, now serving in the U S Navy, in this local militia leadership.
