Voters are reminded that polling hours for this town run from 12 noon to 7 30 PM. Precinct 1 voters cast ballots at the Veterans Building, while Precinct 2 voters vote at the Harvey Wheeler School in West Concord.
Wray White district governor of Rotary International District No. 197 will address Concord Rotary Club members at a noontime luncheon on Thursday September 16 Officers and committee chairs meet at 10 30 am before the luncheon at 12 15 pm The planned broadcast meeting is postponed to October 7 providing a rebroadcast of recent exercises at the Old North Bridge.

Concord merchant Lloyd Sanborn Howe, 44, died after a 15 day illness at McLean Hospital. Born March 25, 1904 in Concord, he was the son of the late Hollis S. Howe and Mrs Finlay Howe, lifelong resident, who took over his father's business in 1939.
Concord officials urge James J. Mansfield tas and Concord Post veterans to attend funeral services for Lloyd E. Howe and Dominic J. Rizzitano. Volunteers meet at 1:30 Friday at Town House for Howe at First Parish and 8:30 Saturday at Town House for Rizzitano at St Bernard's Church.
Concord merchant Tom Peterson marks nearly half a century in business at the Concord Ol Company on Walden Street. Starting work in 1899 he bought the business in 1909 and remains a widely known owner, also owning Friend's Block, a major local property.

Four WWII sailors and soldiers are being returned for burial services in Concord. The first, Seaman 1-C Dominic J. Rizzitano, arrived at Concord depot on Thoreau Street, met by a James J. Mansfield Post and Concord Post delegation. The other three, Private George S. Simpson, Private Thomas Cochran, and Machinist’s Mate 1C Robert E. Thatcher, are en route with services to be announced at a later date.
