Bazaar Planned At St Bernard's Parish Hall

Concord plans a three day bazaar at Monument Hall on October 14 15 and 16 open to the public with events and activities. Rev Michael J Burke is honorary chair of the committee supporting the new parish hall built after the March 1947 fire. proceeds go to the building fund. Grand prize is a 1948 Plymouth sedan.

Willards Hold 41 Reunion in Concord Town

Lake Walden Sees First Drowning in Two Years

In Concord a 19 year old Watertown youth Steven Francis Lyons Jr. drowned about 150 feet from shore in 15 feet of water as hundreds swam at Lake Walden. Lyons was the son of Watertown Police Sgt Steven F. Lyons and was with two companions who reported his disappearance.

Mrs Louisa James Dies at 83 in Concord

Concord notices the death of Mrs Louisa Cushing James 83 wife of Edward Hilton James of 26 Lexington road after a long illness. Funeral held Tuesday at Sleepy Hollow cemetery with Rev Bradford Hastings officiating. She was born in Waterown and moved to Concord 25 years ago and was active in women’s clubs, famed for dramatic readings and languages. She helped found the Ellis Memorial Settlement Club of Boston.

DeMolay Plans Two Corn Roasts Beginning Monday

Concord Chapter of the Order of DeMolay will host a corn roast and outdoor party at Dad Winslow J. Damon’s home, 428 Main Street, West Concord, starting Monday night Labor Day at 5. Activities include outdoor games, a dusk corn roast, with a dance to follow at 6 30 and a second corn roast at 7.

Second Game Of Big Series Sunday

Concord The second big game for the town baseball championship will be West Concord at Emerson Play next Sunday afternoon at 3 o clock. West Concord must win to keep the series alive. if so the rubber game will be played at Playground on Sunday September 12. Charlie Hopkins, now recovered, is due to toe the mound for West Concord while Jimmy Condon, a lefty, is set to pitch against his former mates for Concord. A large crowd is expected to witness the clash.

The Concord Rotary Club scheduled today's regular meeting and luncheon at the Hioward Beet Restaurant. 48 Concord youths register for peace time draft

Concord reports 48 young men aged 18 to 25 registered for the peace time Selective Service over Monday and Tuesday at the Department of Veterans' Services under Mrs Harold G Pratt. Registrations continue at Concord High School as officials expect 541 signups townwide by September 18 with 18 veterans among the first 48 and volunteers handling the process under Board No 23 supervision.
