Concord notes report Camp Prescott at the Prescott farm closing after a successful season with about 60 campers aiding local crops. Company D of the Guardsmen reports a strong showing at Wakefield drills with absent members on annual vacation. The unit seeks able bodies aged 18 to 50 to join and help protect the home front, with weekly Monday sessions and occasional weekend duties.

Three local youths from Concord study at Tufts College Medford preparing for Navy missions. John Antognona and Robert Atognoni of 12 Pismore Street and John F Barrabee of 7 Main Street are listed in the naval roster at Tufts as V-1 and V-12 members in engineering and pre medical courses. She was the widow of lumber dealer Robert Wheeler Blanchard who died 13 years ago and she leaves a son Scott Blanchard a daughter Marjorie Harwood a brother Winthrop Wood and two grandchildren Ensign Nathaniel Blanchard USN and Lieut Herbert W Blanchard USA. Rev John Wallace officiated and burial was at Sleepy Hollow cemetery.
New and returning students must visit the high school office before school to register or change schedules. Office hours run 9 to 12 and 1 30 to 4 30, or by appointment.
Concord's Antiquarian Society will end its 1943 season on Labor Day at its Lexington road home. Despite wartime restrictions, the site was visited by two people, with servicemen from nearby bases and WAACs from Fort Devens among regular visitors.
