Peterson of Monument street Concord heads the list of civil service eligibles for appointment as apple inspector in the state department of agriculture, announced by state civil service commissioner Thomas H. Green. Peterson was one of two men, from 38 tested, who figured prominently in the hearing before Governor Hurley that led to the ouster of Howard Haines Murphy as commissioner of agriculture.
The Concord Police Relief Association prepares its Fourth Annual Policemen’s Ball at the State Armory on Averett Street to fund relief for officers incapacitated by injuries and illnesses. The committee led by Thomas Finan plans a larger event to support families in need and provide protection beyond public charity.
James W Powers son of the late Mrs Powers of Grant Street Concord will marry Catherine C Gallagher next Monday September 6 at Our Lady Help of Christians. Rev William Shaughnessy will preside. Nuptial Mass at 9 am. Best man John Woodlock of Concord and maid of honor Mrs John Coolan. Gallagher, daughter of Mr and Mrs Martin Gallagher of San Francisco, studied at St Pauls Girls and Catholic schools.
