First Report Totals 45 Percent Of Coal Quota In Concord

At the first report meeting on Monday October 22 at Middlesex Fire Insurance Company captains and solicitors presented progress toward a $65 500 coal quota. About 45 percent of the 1951 quota was reported with John J Flynn and J Marble Thayer leading their sections. Several others topped 40 percent as the drive continues with next report nights set for October 29.

Eight Junior High Pupils To Play In November Concert

Concord. Peter Bulkeley announces eight junior high pupils will perform in the Concord school band concert in November. In eighth grade Janet Magoon plays in a clarinet quartet, seventh grader Sybil Moore in a clarinet quartet, George Harms in a saxophone trio, Emily Rideout Dorothy Bowering and Elizabeth Ogilvie in a trumpet trio. Thomas Mudgett will perform a horn solo and Allen Williamson will also play.

No Mid-Week Service for Evangelical Free Church Event

Evangelical Free church will not hold a mid week service on October 31 to allow attendance at a World Evangelical Fellowship meeting at Park Street Church Boston. Dr Oswald Smith and Lieut Gen Sir Arthur Smith are scheduled to speak at 7 30 p m.

Concord Lions mark decade of activity in 10th anniversary

Concord Lions Club celebrated its 10th anniversary with nearly 100 attendees at a Tuesday night ladies high affair held at Metis cover. Al Miller led community singing as Rotary Club presented a bouquet and a flag. Robert B. Lortz chaired the program and 12 charter members were noted. Fire crews respond to gas seepage at Water Street home

West Concord firemen from West Concord and Central Station were summoned early Sunday afternoon for a gas seepage at a refrigerator owned by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mauro on Water Street. Mrs. Mauro was partially overcome. firefighters arrived quickly with an inhalator and were praised for their cooperation.
