Concord Alttor reports G W Vining, with 24 years in scouting and five years as a field scout executive at Old Colony Council, joins Sachem Council staff in Lexington Center. Weymouth native, Weymouth High School graduate, Burdett College alum, trained in X ray at New England School of X ray, Navy veteran 1940 1945. He leads six districts including Concord Lincoln Carlisle in Sachem territory.
Concord Recreation Commission announces a typing class starting Wednesday November 1. The session meets at 7:30 p.m. in the high school and teacher Miss Gert O'Donnell will instruct. Enrollments are welcome and local ladies may contact Bernard Megin recreational director at Concord 1270-W.
Two Japanese principals Dokuyoshi Motoishi of Tsu City and Shigeko Fukeda of Kyoto City visited Concord, observing morning classes and touring two new schools under construction. Both were impressed with Concord school conditions.
Authorities report that Hamel fled after stealing a cat from a barn space and stealing a car. Spotted on Route 20 and Route 12 in Oxford, he fled on foot into woods after a state police chase. He later ditched a second car in Holyoke before being seized and returned to the local institution. He was serving a five year sentence for breaking and entering and larceny and would have faced parole in 1952.
