The Concord Antiquarian Society observed the 150th anniversary of the Provincial Congress in Can- Oct. 11, 1774 with a meeting in the First Vestry Saturday. Citizens gathered for invocation led by Rev. Dr.
A millinery demonstration at the Women’s Club House on Thursday October 16 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. J R Draper will speak on the selection and construction of hats showing samples of hats frames and trimmings and detailing steps to make hats. The event aims to help shoppers buy intelligently and to aid home hat making.
Mr and Mrs William H Gutteridge of Maynard mass will mark their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Tuesday October 21 1924 with open house from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. In a Concord Town Hall meeting on a Sunday afternoon, physicians, committees, and hundreds of citizens pledged support to sustain Emerson Hospital. Organizers formed the Emerson Aid Society, seeking a Sustaining Fund of at least 160000 to ensure ongoing operation, with New England Deaconess Association to receive title upon funding.
A parachute bomb exploded in Maynard's Summer Hill area around 10 pm Monday. Police tracked a speeding vehicle toward Stow and placed guards at Warren Bishop's Summer Street home after reports he escaped from Westboro Hospital. Detectives suspect Bishop may be in hiding near his residence as officers patrol day and night.

Frederick L. Gile Jr and family visited Parmenter Garrison Farm in South Sudbury on their trip to St. Petersburg Florida. Gile, formerly of Concord Massachusetts, is credited as the first farmer there to run a wayside stand selling farm products. He kept the stand closed on Sundays respecting the Lord's Day, a practice praised by Concord’s best.
The M E Church plans a Friday evening performance of Happyland in the Hall with Dorothy B Elderkin directing. Thirty children, several young ladies and men participate as dancers and singers. Advance ticket sales are strong and the hall is expected to reach capacity. Home made candy will be sold between acts.
