Reverend William F. Shaughnessey Dies at 65 in Concord

The Rev. William F. Shaughnessey pastor of Our Lady Help of Christians in West Concord died suddenly at 5 a.m. Tuesday at the rectory aged 65. He served here since 1932 and was highly regarded. A solemn high mass will be held Friday at 10 a.m. led by Archbishop Richard J. Cushing with multiple clergy assisting. The body lies in state at the church, and a rosary will be recited Thursday night by parish groups. He was born in Brighton in 1882 and ordained in 1909, leaving a brother Patrick and sister Catherine Shaughnessey of Brighton.
