Concord educator Wheeler dies after mother

Concord-Herman Temple Wheeler died Tuesday September 25 in Lincoln after living in Lincoln 50 years. He taught at Reading High School for 21 years and was a member of Lincoln Congregational Church Pacific Lodge A F and A M Amherst and Walden Royal Arch Chapter. Born January 25 1886 in Acton he was in his 60th year. Funeral last Wednesday at Woodlawn cemetery Acton officiated by Rev Alfred B Starrett. Survived by cousin Mrs Lida Hall Mil ton.

Monsens Mark 25th Wedding Anniversary

West Concord couple Hans Monsen and his wife celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. They were married in Carlisle on October 1 1920 and have lived in Carlisle and West Concord since. He works for a local firm. They have two children Edward and Edith. Edward is a discharged U S Army veteran stationed with units in Guada lupe and the Southwest Pacific area while Edith is a former Concord high school secretary serving with the WACs in the south.

Mary Harlow Weds John Achelis in Concord Church

Miss Mary Cheever Harlow daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward Dexter Harlow of Sudbury Road Concord married John Fritz Achelis of New York City at Trinity Episcopal church last Saturday at 4 30 PM. Rev Charles Russell Peck performed the ceremony and a reception followed at the bride’s parents home. Achelis is a veteran of the CBI campaign returning home last spring after two years of service.

Concord Elks Adds Members at September Meeting

Concord Lodge of Elks held a well attended meeting on September 25 at their hall on Main street. After the business session several new members were inducted led by Exalted Ruler George E. Davis and Esteemed Leading Knight Leon J. Moreau. A social followed and visiting Elk members attended. Next meeting was announced for October 9.

Funeral for M. J. Dempsey in Concord

Funeral services for Michael J. Dempsey 77 of 11 Bew Street Concord were held at St Bernard's Church after a morning wake. Dempsey died Monday after a bicycle collision with a trailer truck on the Concord Turnpike and was buried at St Bernard's Cemetery. He had worked at Municipal Light Plant and as a gardener on Sudbury Road. He survived by his wife Alice G. Dempsey two sons Tech Sgt John J. Dempsey in India and Edward F. Dempsey in Washington DC three daughters Helen Hagerty Marion Russell Elizabeth Dempsey one brother John Dempsey and two sisters plus grandchildren.

The West Concord Union Church will dedicate its new Memorial organ at 5 PM next Sunday.
