Frank Kamesh, a local ball player, rescued Piscievicz a ten year old boy from an overturned canoe in mill pond. A crowd gathered as Kamesh donned a life preserver and swam out to pull the boys to safety.
The ceremony at West Concord church joined Miss Agnes J. Smith and John J. Rick. Bridesmaids Hibguoise and a sister, with attendants Charles Everett and Edward McMelrose among brothers. Organist Myra Loughlin led the music. The couple will reside at 7 Street Arlington after a New York State wedding trip.
Auctioneers announce sales scheduled for October 4 1930 at 10 am in Subury for George Wheel street items and October 7 1930 at 10 am for the administratrix of Daniel Civerly at the corner of st street and Lowell road items include furniture cut glass rugs dishes extended ware and farm goods such as celery boards wagons and various articles.
Miss Helen Sundquist of Waltham wed Fréa hk Norman Peterson of Concord in a September ceremony at the bride’s home. Rev George Hughes officiated with Ralph H Peterson as best man and Lillian Sundquist as maid of honor. Peterson, a Concord High School Class of 24 graduate and Corinthian Lodge member, is a machinist. The couple will reside in Concord after a wedding trip.
Maynard Grange at Grange hall exemplified the first and second degrees for a class of candidates. Officers and members attended including Jennie Dittrich and Mrs. Helena Murphy among others. Miss Laura Woodart presented a paper on Floors and Floor Coverings. A social repast followed under Mrs. Belle McAuslin and Miss Irene Martin. Third and fourth degrees are set for October 9. Maynard Grange also hosted an entertainment at An snupsmace Grange Fair in West Concord.
In Middlesex Criminal Court, three Waltham youths Samuel Brown 19 Leonard Hennessey 22 and Paul Delaney 23 face assault with intent charges for June 22 attack on Katherine Hagerty 50 a church organist and telephone operator. Defence says Brown did the assault but others intervened. Hagerty testified she rode with strangers to a wooded area and was attacked amid drink prior to the incident.
Victor Heyliger of 1980 was elected president of the Concord High School Athletic Association at the annual meeting Friday. Bernard Megin of 1931 was chosen vice president and Eunice Miller of 1931 assistant treasurer, with W. Edward Lamb as faculty treasurer. Teachers for football games were appointed: Miss Agnes Mullen, John Brigham, Leslie Petersen and Miss Alma Langille.
Utah delegation to the Legion convention was to be the first to arrive in Boston as their train sped toward headquarters. The group planned to attend the event and represent Utah at the gathering.
George Jamieson Sr. of Elmwood Street celebrated his 67th birthday on September 25 at home, having recently undergone major surgery including both legs amputated above the knee. A former sailor who circled the world five times and learned twelve languages, he remains cheerful and active, crediting outdoor life and work for his recovery. He is father of 22 children, with ten living, and has twelve grandchildren, and holds memberships in several fraternal orders.
Maynard public schools will close on Tuesday October 7 for a Boston parade. The school committee discussed aiding four tennis courts at Alumni Field Bancroft Street school grounds for community and Legion use.
Registrars of Voters were in session at the Selectmen’s office to set registration dates. The radio team will meet again on Monday, Nov. 19, to review eligibility and prepare for the upcoming election.
John Carey long associated with Maynard died recently leaving a large family. The funeral program noted his service with the Legion and the burial procession included a firing detail and escort to the cemetery. A service at nine o clock was led by Reverend Leo as veterans paid their last respects.
Mrs Albert Gleason, president of the Federation, expresses deep appreciation for the honor and the program's impact. The event featured Mrs Joseph Perkins supervising over 250 Texas women’s clubs, with notable speakers and hosts from Concord and Massachusetts connections.
The Bedford Grange held its 20th Grange fair on the recent Tuesday and Wednesday. The upper hall showcased decorated booths, prize winners included the household table and apron table, while the lower hall featured appliances, animals, and a water polo display judged by Chief Tierney. Other events included a soapbox drag, a doll carriage parade won by Betty Ann Grove, and a decorated bicycle contest won by John Brown.
An eleven year old boy led and played with Teddy Beers on the veranda during a musical gathering. The scene captured a youthful musician directing as the band performed in the open air.
New York October 1. Jack Donahue widely known musical comedy star died at his home of heart failure. The Boston native was stricken while in New York for a performance and had been forced to leave his show Sons O Guns. He was at his bedside when death occurred and kept cheerful as friends talked with him.
Insufficient water forced 400 firefighters and volunteers from Massachusetts and Connecticut to dig ditches and clear trees as they battle the largest woodland fire in the area's history near Southbridge on October 11.

The Lone Star District Odd Fellows held an installation of officers with Harry as financial secretary, Henry as treasurer, and Robert E. Cousins as trustee for three years. A joint installation with Willow Rebekah Lodge was set for Oct 16. Concord Lodge appointed deputy to Melrose Lodge.
Miss Ann DeGrappo and Anthony Porango were married Sunday at St Bridget's Church Milford. The 2 o'clock ceremony was conducted by Walter Roche with Miss Jennie Perrazzo Everett as bridesmaid and John DeLiqua Milford as best man. The couple will reside at 37 East Milford after a wedding tour to New York and Canada.
News from South Acton reports the death of Mrs Hannah Nelson at Virginia on September 1. She lived in Acton and studied at Concord High and Fitchburg State Normal School. She belonged to the Congregational church and Sunday school and church societies.
