The Town of Concord receives a state treasurer check for 9515.03 amid rising income and corporate tax receipts. Officials note a substantial increase versus prior distributions and anticipate continued prosperity into 1920.
Myrtle Graves resigns as Concord High School teacher after a decade with the district to take a higher paying post in Quincy near her mother in Norwell. Jillian J Anderson, a Harwich and Mt Ida School for Girls alumna, is appointed to replace her.
A Bedford church reports Pastor Frank Thompson plans to resign from his current position. He states he will seek a suitable assignment elsewhere while remaining a pastor if needed. Congregation members express support and gratitude for his service.
Dr Edward Fisherty was elected president of Emerson hospital staff with W Hutchinson of Concord as vice president and C L Clark of South Acton as treasurer. Fisherty, born in Mars, starred in high school baseball and played for Cushing Academy and the University of Vermont. he has practiced in Maynard since 1914 and chairs the school committee.
The Maynard Degion turkey whist in Odd Hall drew many players and prize awards. Rob Sheridan won the turkey with prizes given to Mrs Lena Downey and Mrs Mary Tobin for tables of flour and eggs, while Mildred Glebis and Mrs Bergan were noted for plum and other items. Several delegates and local Auxiliary members attended the meeting, including Miss Vieanor Sheridan and Mrs Grace Sweeney.
The annual St Bridget s parish reunion is tonight at the high school auditorium with a concert dance and whist. Refreshments will be served in the school gym. The sturdy annual typically draws a capacity crowd.
At the Our Lady Help of Christians Court C D of A meeting held in Odd Fellows hall West Concord it was decided to hold a Christmas charity bazaar on Friday evening December 12 at Warner.
Bishop Henry Knox Sherrill of the Massachusetts Episcopal Diocese confirmed a large class at St George church last Sunday afternoon. He preached briefly and met parishioners in the parish hall at a cordial reception after the service. Music featured the regular choir under Miss Ethel Lovingly with Edith Laubenstein on organ and soloist William Tuttle with Alfred Tracey on violin.
A large congregation filled Union Congregational Church for a union Masonic service led by Rev. Mathew Vance with prayer by Rev. Ernest Lyman Mills. Charles A. Welch Lodge and Anchor and Ark Glee Club provided a musical program featuring solos and songs, praised for its excellence and performances by Gavin Taylor Jr. and others.
The Maynard Red Cross Roll Call closes next Saturday as enrollment lags behind previous years. No house to house campaign occurred this year, and neighbors are urged to remind others to enroll. Local president Mrs. Willfield and chairman Jas Mahoney lead the effort with committee members listed.

Mrs. Comeau and her husband keep a pet robin that flew from a nearby nest four months ago. The bird, allowed indoors at night, perches on Mrs. Comeau’s shoulder, accepts food from her hand, plays with the cat and dog, and returns home nightly. The family plans to keep the tame robin despite warnings robins rarely become domesticated.
