Concord town forest committee notes rising use this season by hikers and nature lovers. Chairman Harold W. Chase announces regulations banning fires and removal of trees and shrubs to preserve and protect the forest. The committee asks townspeople to cooperate to keep the area beautiful.
Concord week end alarms handled by local firemen included a brass fire at the Archibald H Ferran residence on Central Street, a bakery truck fire at 3 45 a m, and an oil burner blaze at a Belknap Street residence. The oil burner blaze was the 260th of the year.
Concord high school vice-principal Rus sell A. Fitz announces a repeat Talent Show this Friday at 8 PM open to the public. Tickets available at the high school with limited accommodations.
Mr and Mrs Henry J Smith of Old Marlboro road celebrate 14 years of marriage. The couple wed at Our Lady Help of Christians church on November 19 1939. Mrs Smith is the former Helen Krukanis and Mr Smith is a bowler employed at the Massachusetts Reformatory.
The state Division of Employment Security will close the Concord branch at 19 Everett Street on Friday November 20. Jack Peterson will transfer activity to the Lowell office at 291 Summer Street. Unemployment compensation remains available through Waltham and Marlboro offices for local residents.

Concord The Concorde Community Chest campaign committee met to tally this year's drive and reported contributions within about 1100 of the 69300 goal. The 1953 sum is the largest raised, with average gifts eight percent higher than last year. The board plans to cover the deficit from the Amency Fund to ensure nine agencies receive operating funds for the year.
