A Tuesday morning ceremony in Acton featured a wreath placed over a hero named Ho Quinby. Richardson and others from the Christian Young Society of the Congregational church arranged the tribute with wreaths and flags.
Boys in the South Acton council and their leader Mary Howe organized club activities at home. Members earned ribbons and cash prizes for their canned goods at Acton and Groton fairs, highlighting skill and teamwork in summer canning efforts.
In Acton New York the poultry club awarded prizes from the Margaret Rayner memorial fund with Spencer Taylor and Pdney receiving ten prizes totaling funds. Mines cleared 31.75 dollars from seven contests. A larger prize pool is expected next year as activity grows. The Scientific American reported it would direct an attempt to convert quicksilver.
At a Sunday School session Mrs. Wallace B. Conant handed out four nickels to each Primary and intermediate student with a plan to grow the money. The fund will support the church building project as members discuss architectural styles and form fundraising groups led by Lawrence Petersen George Olsen and Theodore Peterson.
John W Mara announces new stock of garden vegetables with can sizes and prices. Green Stringless Beans 22c per can or $2.40 per dozen. Golden Bantam Corn 28c per can or $3.15 per dozen. Kanly June sweet peas 19c per can or $2.15 per dozen. Yellow Cling Peaches 39c per can or $4.55 per dozen. Barthes Pears 40c per can or $4.55 per dozen.
Concord nears its target as the Emerson Hospital sustaining fund approaches 100000 dollars out of a 150000 goal. Miss Stella Orr has been named superintendent, a Royal Victoria Hospital Montreal graduate. Repairs hoped to enable opening by December 1.
Citizens in Maynard speculate who signed the Taxpayer letter to the Enterprise. A public forum is open for letters on public matters, with the signer to be revealed in the Enterprise at the proper time. Bets and guesses fill cafes, churches, and streets as townsfolk debate the author.
Maynard native Harlan Powers, a radio operator aboard the United Fruit steamship Zacapa bound Kingston to New York, helped calm passengers after the Zacapa went ashore on Great Inagua Island Sunday night. All aboard were transferred safely. Powers later sent a radiogram to his mother confirming everyone's safety.
The installation of officers for Isaac Davis post No. 188 GAR will be held Saturday night November 15 at 7 30 o'clock in Grand Army Hall. All patriotic orders auxiliaries and associate members are invited to attend.
The Concord Woman's Club approved a $10 donation to Emerson Hospital in Concord. William Barnett moved his family to a house on Create Street, vacated by Oliver J. Robertson, who has moved to Waverley. Frederick A. Waite was appointed Assistant Trust Officer at the Old Colony Trust Company in Boston and will serve as office manager of the Trust Department.
Middlesex Central Pomona Grange No 23 met in Odd Fellows Hall guesting An nursnac Grange with large attendance from many towns. A chicken pie supper followed, officers were elected for the year, and a play titled Marrying Money was presented under Mrs Hodgdon's supervision. Remarks were offered by state deputies J Edward Coleman and Charles Cahill.
In dry weather Concord Junction saw two major fires. Firemen battled a several hour blaze in American Powder Company woodlands off Highland avenue burning about 15 acres. A grass fire in Abbott Allen’s meadow off Elm street was also tackled with river and street sides helping to contain the flames before any buildings were harmed.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology Combined Musical Clubs Glee Banjo Mandolin and Dance Orchestra will stage a concert and dance at the Veterans' Building in Concord on Friday evening November 21 at eight o'clock under the West Concord Woman's Club. Mrs. Robert Walker is president. About sixty to seventy five Tech students will perform a program from eight to ten, then two hours of dancing. Tickets are available at Hogan's Spa Rexall Store Concord Junction Richardson's Drug Store Concord or from West Concord Woman's Club members.
Memorial notices announce services for Mrs. D. Lothrop of Concord. A funeral service will be held November 16 at 3 p.m. in the Unitarian Church Concord with ashes interred at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. A Boston memorial service by the Massachusetts Children of The American Revolution is set for November 23 at 4 p.m. in New Old South Church.
Sudbury reports Mr and Mrs Myles Burndel moving to Billerica. A new ell is built at Mrs Laura Kendrick’s home. Basil Oliver began a automobile trip to California for the winter. Dr A D Holmes is ill with erysipelas and moved to Waltham Hospital, now back at home. Sunday saw an exchange of preachers with Rev Ward of Unitarian Church in South Sudbury and Rev Haaring at the Unitarian Church pulpit.
The Wo man's club Thursday meeting drew a large crowd with a children choir from the seventh grade directed by George Woods. A donation to the Emerson hospital fund was announced and Maynard members plan to attend the Federation meeting at Lowell on November 19 with Glenn Frank as speaker.
Sons of St. George lodge held a Monday meeting at Odd Fellows hall entertaining over 100 visitors from Lawrence and Boston, including supreme and grand lodge officers. Visiting officials spoke, introduced by Nathan Crowther, followed by a post meeting collation.
The Ladies' Social circle of the Congregational church plans a 4 dinner in the church dining room on Nov 20 at 12 o'clock. The Acton Water Department has begun digging a trench for the Main water pipe extension from B. J Inexo's house on Ibert street to the Stow line.
Frederic Blake Holder, a Harvard class of 1881 graduate and director in various businesses, died after several weeks of illness at his Concord home. A Roxbury native, he lived in Beacon Street and Weston, was married to Susan Dilingham, and left two daughters and two brothers. He was in his sixty fifth year and had connections with Stone & Webster.
The A M Q O Philathen Class held a banquet and reunion at the Methodist church on Tuesday evening to celebrate its tenth anniversary. Mrs Harriet Naylor led postprandial exercises and introduced Mrs A M Osgood of Somerville who sent greetings from Rev A Morrill Os good who was unavailable. Speakers included Rev and Mrs G M Redstone Wm Naylor Harry Burnham and Charles Shattuck officials of the church.
The funeral of Mrs. Eunetta EME Elizabeth Braybrook Barker was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 Hubbard Street with Rev. Benjamin R. Bulkeley and Rev. Loren B. MacDonald presiding. Burial followed in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
Evening School meets in the High School Building on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7 30 to 10 P M with 32 pupils. Mr William Dee assists Miss Sarah A Loomis of the High School Faculty in instruction.
Marion reports condition of Mrs Warren G. Harding improved slightly according to Dr Sawyer's daily bulletin.
Burton and Dr. R Woodworth spent the weekend at the Norton summer home at Franklin New Hampshire. Daniel Lapham is moving his family into half the double house on Pleasant street recently vacated by Harvey Isner. Mr Isner is moving his family to the Maple street house formerly occupied by Mrs Nina Ridley. Mrs B E Woodworth visited relatives and friends at Brookline and Milton during the week.
A two car collision near Pierce's corner by the Reformatory about 10 30 Monday morning involved an Elcar owned by N Goward driven by A A Spaulding and a Ford truck from Howse Cleaning Co Lowell driven by Louis Paquette. The Elcar overturned causing extensive damage while the Ford driver escaped injury. Mrs Goward and Miss Moorehouse sustained multiple cuts and bruises.

Baker and 104 Chase Baker announce a two day auction in Concord Town Hall on November 17 and 18, 1924 starting at 10 a.m. A wide range of items from a fine home will be sold including a Steinway piano, mahogany dining set, rugs, chests, chairs, beds, silver, lamps, mantels, as well as numerous household goods and utensils. Sale will proceed regardless of weather. items move to the hall for viewing only on sale day. James F. Baker and Henry Cushman oversee the sale by order of the executors.

James Claflin, inspector with the Boston Police Department, is chosen as one of the inspectors to study aviation in preparation for establishing an air squad. A Maynard, Massachusetts native, he has gained high rank within Boston's police force.
Roy Lent captured the Kaplan Cup at the Country Club this weekend to establish a club record. In the final elimination match he defeated James Packard six up with four to play in a 36-hole contest. Lent was the top scorer in the Presidents Cup and also won the club’sFlag Tournament last summer.
