V1 Beck and J Mansfield Post announce an evening gathering at the club on West Con sday night at 6 30 with supper. Fred Nolan leads a business session in charge of the People’s Society, followed by a morning service at Lexington road First Parish Unit on the theme Out world.
The Emerson Hospital Aid Society launches its annual appeal from November 4 to 18 across 18 towns served. It urges citizens to double or triple donations to cover a projected 1946 deficit near $15,000 and fund urgent expansions to meet rising patient demand and costs.
At the Concord Lions Club gathering in November at Wrights Tavern Homer Metz Boston newspaperman spoke on foreign affairs and wartime press coverage. President Leon J Moreau opened the meeting and thanked guests while Roger C Fenn urged club support for wounded veterans at Lovell General Hospital Fort Devens.
Mrs Jennie Nees authorizes Jane to propose a week long plan for the town war records as published in the Concord Enterprise. The notice urges community input and participation.
The Dee family of Concord observes their silver anniversary with a gathering of relatives. Mr Dee and Agnes O Dowd celebrate with five children, three serving in the Army and Navy. Corp East W Dee and Pfc James H Dee Jr serve stateside, Air Fortes veteran of Europe, Lieut Marian F Dee in the Nurses Corps in the Pacific, plus Martha and Norman at home. The family is well known locally and Mr Dee is in business.
The Concord Council Knights of Columbus committee met Friday to plan the harvest supper. Grand Knight William R. Oen and Thomas J. Bigy Dr. led the meeting. The event is set for Monday evening November 5 at the Verhods Building with tickets from committee members. Public welcome.
The Concord Minute Man chapter of the Veterans Association will hold a meeting on Tuesday evening November 13 at 8 o'clock. Newly elected officers and community veterans are invited to attend at the usual meeting hall.
The ceremony in Concord united Miss Virginia Sweetland daughter of Col and Mrs Almon Sweetland of East Lyzin formerly West Concord with Anthony Baskiewicz of Concord. The bride’s sisters Thelma Beatrice and Norman Stanley attended. The groom served two and a half years with the U S Army in the Pacific. The couple will reside at 49 Main Street after a wedding trip.
Concord motorists are reminded that from November 1 to April 1 1946 a law bans night parking in front of homes. First violators are warned and later penalty enforced to aid the town war department in keeping streets clear of snow.
Concord couple Mr and Mrs Murray mark their fifth wedding anniversary October 26 1940. They have lived in Concord since and Mrs Murray the former Esther D Sanborn. The husband was employed locally before entering the Army about five years ago and is now in the Pacific theatre. They have one son.

The funeral for 43 year old Margaret E. Brown of West Concord was held Saturday at Our Lady Help of Christians church with Rev. Joseph W. Leilhvan officiating. She is survived by brothers Joseph and James, with burial at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord.
Local note marks an anniversary for Dr. and Mrs. Richard A. Montague of Sudbury road formerly of Thor eau street. They wed in Cambridge on June 25 1940. Mrs Montague is the former Ethel Hedman. The couple have two daughters Louise and Jane and a son Richard Jr.
A lesson sermon titled Probation After Passing was read at the First Church of Christ on Lowell Road during the morning service, reflecting on repentance and moral reflection in the regular Sunday worship.
Lieut. Richard H. Mara 29 U S Army Air Corps veteran of many missions over Europe died last October 13. His wife Allison Ringrose Mara survives along with mother Mrs Annie J Mara and four sisters and three brothers. Mara, a Concord native, was a standout athlete at Concord High School and served with Patton's Army in Europe. He was among the first pilots to enter Germany and helped liberate prisoners from a Nazi camp. He married Allison Ringrose in June 1944. Further family notices are expected from the War Department or commanding officer.
