Concord Soldier Rizzitano Jr. Dies Overseas in WWII

Private first class Rizzitano Jr., 22, of Concord died in Germany serving with a tank corps in the armored division that had been in action since D Day. Born in Concord, he attended local schools and played football for Concord High and the Concord Yarke semi pro team. He entered service two years earlier and married briefly in Virginia before going overseas. Five brothers and several sisters survived him, with two brothers also in Germany and two others stationed in the U.S. Army. He is believed to be the town's 29th World War II fatality and the third from St Bernard's parish.

West Concord Man Takes 60 Day Leave Before Return to Duty

Sergeant Joseph W. King Jr., son of Mr and Mrs Joseph W King of West Concord, is on a 60 day leave with his parents before reporting to Lake Placid New York for active duty. He recently returned to the U S with other POWs after capture in Italy in July 1944 while with infantry forces. He was marched 1200 miles in 10 weeks by the Germans and later moved back toward Berlin before being captured again, then taken by truck to Peoverte England and back to the United States by boat. He is now home on leave.

Concordes parade honors British veterans at North Bridge

Concord held a second parade in the afternoon to honor British naval veterans. Burrows led the procession as Hubert M Wardwell chaired the selectmen meeting and welcomed the visitors. Rev Edward W Gonroy officiated. Bridesmaid Anne Medeiros and best man Nicholas Portazzo attended. After a reception in Memorial Hall the couple plans to reside at 20 Grove Street Hudson following a wedding trip. The Ladies Union of West Concord Church meets June 7 in the church parlor at 2 30 PM.

Veterans at Concord Memorial Sunday Service

Veterans of all wars gathered at Tri nitarian Congregational Church for an Sunday morning service led by Rev John Elmo Wallace. Special music commemorated the occasion with many World War II veterans present, after a parade from the state armory marshaled by W. Percy Blodgett and Lt Dolan.

Concord high school alumnus and bank employee serves as lieutenant in the Tenth Company MWC. He recently came back from 32 months in the European theatre including North Africa Sicily Italy and Normandy.
