Maynard Veterans Honor Departed Comrades Memorial Observance
Maynard veterans led a Memorial Day program with post and auxiliary organizations, decorating 36 G A R and 15 World War graves at Wood and St Bridget’s cemeteries. The procession included veterans, scouts, and children. services were held at multiple cemeteries with prayers, speeches, and a noon address at St Bridget’s. A dinner and refreshments followed at Odd Fellows hall.

Maynard High Earns Relay Honors at State Carnival
Maynard High School earned two second places in the state college carnival relay events. The Fairhaven quartet beat the locals both times. Coach Char ity is proud of O Leary, Thompson, Piecenez, and Gilleney in the 220 yard and the hundred. Maynard defends its Class B title in burg with Captain Jordan, Paul Wilson, Billy Trees, and Malcolm Howe leading the team.

Maynard Grange held its annual Memorial service at Grange hall Tuesday night. Rev. Jonn Rex Shepler chaplain led the service. A quartet sang with Alan Palmer Edwin Carlton Rev J R Shepler and William Johnston. A playlet Clothesline Gossip was given by Phyllis Savikoski Elizabeth Perry and Edmund Whitney. A second playlet A Successful Interview featured Mr and Mrs J R Shepler Marion Whitney and Edith McAuslin. Ina Edwards supervised the collation. May Queen Crowned at Concord Academy May Festival
Concord Academy held its annual May festival with 120 pupils performing songs and dances. Miss Morence Josephine Cole of Concord was crowned May Queen as Jean Richards of Lexington placed the crown. May Procession Honors Blessed Virgin at Maynard Parish
The annual May procession at Maynard's Blessed Virgin of Saint get’s parish featured a first Communion class of 66 children. Escorts from St. Bridget's Kite, Drum and Bugle Corps and several Mary Corps members joined a march to the parochial residence lawn for coronation ceremonies and flower tributes at the Shrine. Rev. Walter Roche spoke on the ceremony's importance as a capacity crowd attended benediction in church.

At the May 92nd school committee meeting the personnel for 1933 34 was announced. Most teachers were re appointed with two positions cut or reduced salaries in places. Local youth killed in hit and run on Powder Mill Road
Andrew Lilja 18 son of Mr and Mrs Edward Lilja of 40 Crane Avenue was killed when struck by a hit and run driver on Powder Mill Road Wednesday night. John B Keefe 33 of Sudbury Road Concord confessed to driving the car and was charged with manslaughter and leaving the scene. Evidence led to bail set at 5000 dollars and the case continued in Concord district court.

The Memorial Day parade in Sudbury began at 9 30 a m on Tuesday visiting Revolutionary Civil War and World War veterans graves for decoration. Alfred Bonzoli and Wyman Rogers led Sudbury Post duties with William E Bills as Civil War representative. Local schools, scouts and groups joined the march followed by a Memorial service led by local pastors and a luncheon at First Parish church hall.
