23rd Infantry Band To Render July 3 Concert
Concord's own band will open the Field Day and Patriotic Celebration on July 3 in Concord. The 23rd Infantry Band, formed from former Concord Legion Band members, will perform a two hour concert at 8 p.m. The Legion Band had been idle due to war, with O Harry Neilsen organizing a regimental band for the 23rd Infantry.

Memorial Day Exercises Set
The annual Memorial Day exercises in Concord will be led by the Veterans Council with W. Percy Blodgett as chief marshal. The parade forms at the State Armory Thursday at 2 oclock and ceremonies take place at local cemeteries. James Alexander heads the committee. veterans organizations and Boy and Girl Scouts are invited, including World War II veterans.

Concord reports the Narragansett Special rail service was grounded by DDT last Saturday due to a rail strike. The bus will resume weekly trips to Suffolk Downs, departing Maynard and Concord Center at 12 30.

At Our Lady Help of Christians in West Concord Sunday May 26 a 11:30 memorial mass honored area veterans. A preceding memorial at Sergt Kenneth J Dunn Square featured Rev Joseph W Sullivan, taps and a wreath by Jeanne Bell half sister of Sergt Dunn who fell in Guadalcanal. Major James Dolan S J, Army chaplain, delivered the sermon and urged duty to country.

New Flagpole Arrives for Emerson Playground
A new all steel flagpole costing 1800 dollars has arrived at Emerson Playground. It will be erected soon in the same spot as the previous pole destroyed by lightning. A formal dedication is planned, dates pending. The pole will be white with a green butt and a gold eagle atop the summit.

Veterans Groups Visit Concord to Honor British Soldiers
The British Naval and Military Association of Massachusetts joined veterans in Concord to honor British soldiers who died on April 19 1775. A parade from the State Armory traversed Everett Stow Sudbury Main Mill Dam to Monument Square and North Bridge with a police escort, wreaths, and a volley at the graves.
